General Information
This section contains a selection of the frequently asked questions.  (Some of this information has been provided by Work and Social Affairs Department of the Spanish Embassy in the U.K.)
I am a British Citizen.  Do I need a work permit or a visa to work in Spain? No. Further more, like any other national of an EU or EEA Member State you are free to enter and work, temporary or permanently, in Spain without a work permit.
How do I find work? To find employment in Spain we suggest that you contact the local official job centres (Oficinas de Empleo), the local press or personally approach a prospective employer or TEMPs (temporary employment agencies).
What do I need to become self-employed?

As in the case of employees, self-employed do not need a work permit or visa. But the procedure to become self-employed will depend of the kind of self-employment that you intend to undertake. If your intended work is in a profession which is not regulated, then you will only need to register with the “INSS” (Instituto Nacional de la Seguridad Social), for social security purposes, and the “Agencia Tributaria”, for income tax.

If what you want is to open a business to the public, you may need several licences. In those circumstances further information should be requested from the Local Authorities, professional bodies, the Chamber of Commerce. etc

Is it easy to find work in Spain? Unemployment in Spain is higher than that in some other European countries which can make it difficult for foreigners to find work particularly if you are unable to speak Spanish
Is it possible to find temporary or seasonal work? Yes, particularly in shops, restaurants and bars.  Demand for additional employees in this type of work is higher during the holiday season though often pay rates can be fairly low.

The following provide some useful links to a number of authoritive bodies who may be able to assist in the search for employment in Spain.
